Stichting Monumentenfonds Aruba (SMFA) has bought Nicolaas Store building in San Nicolas and will now prepare for the restoration of this building. The building will house the Community Museum. Friday August 23 the rental contract is signed by the board of SMFA and Minister Michelle Winklaar-Hooyboer of Culture and Minister of Finance, Mike the Mesa.

SMFA is proud see the Community Museum to get into the former Nicholas Store. The signing will take place at the office of SMFA. March this year on the initiative of the government a collection was bought. The desire was to make this collection to a wider audience visible in San Nicolas. There is a temporary exhibition opened in March in the old building Brenchie building, as a precursor to the final destination, the Community Museum. The Community Museum is still in the preparatory phase. The approach is to have a large part of the people of San Nicolas to participate in the design process. Their input is very important to the Community Museum to become really a community event. The collection will be a part of the Community Museum, but also for a part in the Historical Museum at Fort Zoutman. Both museums are managed by the Fundacion Museo Arubano
